Our Story

The History of Logos Preparatory Academy

Every school has its own story to tell.  The context in which teaching and learning takes place influences the processes and procedures by which the school makes decisions around curriculum, instruction, and assessment.  The context also impacts the way a school stays faithful to its vision.

Logos Preparatory Academy was the vision of four families living in Southwest Houston. Two families were recently transferred from the Dallas area where their children attended Grace Preparatory Academy, the initial University Model School®.  Two other families joined with like minded goals for a Christ centered education. We believe God inspired their vision and provided the means for families to experience an educational alternative to homeschooling, public school, and traditional private school options. With a surprising initial enrollment of 232 students, classes started August 2006 offering 3rd – 10th grades.  The school has been blessed by God and we have grown to over 500 students in a K-12 college preparatory program.

We have been true to the vision of our Founding Families.  Logos Prep is still able to provide a cost-effective Christian education due to our unique schedule, partnership mentality, and efficient use of space.  Our commitment to partnering with parents has produced a superior academic record and has enabled us to truly be college preparatory. 98% of graduates attend a four year college or university.  In 2014 10% of our graduates were National Merit scholars.  According to nationally graded standardized testing (ReadiStep), 70% – 80% of Eighth Graders are already “college ready”.

Our excellent staff is comprised of both veteran and newer educators.  40% of Logos Prep teachers have 10 or more years of experience (27% having 15 years or more).  17% of our teachers are in their first five years of teaching.  This broad range of experience creates a wonderful balance between seasoned wisdom and fresh ideas, offering rich opportunities for collaboration.  They not only teach with expertise, they teach with heart and passion.  All have pledged a heart for Christ, a love of teaching, and a passion for their subject.

The School can be viewed as a three-leg chair, equally dependent on the strength of each leg for success and stability.  We believe that a complete education is comprised of academics, activities, and Godly character.  Training in each area produces World Changers for Christ.
